Email Lihle Ngongoma
Gamelihle Mamazana Ngongoma or Lihle as she's better known is the second youngest of six children and was born on 14 November 1988 in Hillcrest, Durban. Early in her life, Lihle moved to Umlazi and more recently, Inanda, Durban. Lihle attended a few schools growing up and finished her secondary education at Inanda Seminary School in Durban.
She has always been singing in church and grew to love it from an early age. Recreationally, she loves spending time with her siblings and is also a very creative person at heart. This singing sensation holds a Certificate in Excess Arts and is studying for a Diploma in Jazz and Popular Music, both from the University of KwaZulu Natal.
This talented musician was strongly influenced by two particular female musicians namely Lalah Hathaway as well as Durban-born Busi Mhlongo. Other musicians that she avidly listens to are Alicia Keys, Johannesburg group Prisoners of Strange, as well as jazz musician Joe Scott. This POPSTAR has been a regular performer at the Bat Centre, a Jazz restaurant at Durban harbour.
"Gamelihle" means 'beautiful name' and Lihle wants her name to become a legacy. Something that can inspire the next generation and also something that the community can be proud of.
