Email Lyle Volkwyn
Lyle Anthony Volkwyn was born on 14 January 1987 in the West Rand in Johannesburg. He attended Arthur Matthews Primary School and then went on to complete his schooling at Florida Park High School. Growing up, this youngster always showed a keen interest in music and always kept his finger on the pulse of new and latest trends in the music industry. Originally, he wanted to be the first lawyer-singer in the country, showing an interest in South African law as well as performing and singing. Other than being a great singer, Lyle is a champion Latin American dancer and has won numerous awards doing this.
Lyle's musical influences span across R&B and soul and he idolised the UK artist Craig David growing up. Other performers that Lyle was directly influenced by are John Legend, Michael Jackson, Beyonce as well as Luther Vandross. While he was growing up, Lyle spent lots of time watching theatre productions and this inspired him a great deal to become a singer.
With a bubbly personality perfect for performing, this characteristic comes through strongly in his singing on stage. A comedic people's person at heart, this guy's hardly seen without a smile.
A big part of Lyle's life is also his role in the 4Change Foundation, a group that uses arts and culture to teach life skills to school children. Lyle loves working with underprivileged children and wants to use his performing as a tool to make a positive change in the lives of those less fortunate.
