"To me soccer's never been just a game. It's a fundamental part of who I am. It's my passion. My solace. My pride.
"Growing up I was always kicking around a soccer ball be it in our backyard, on the street, or on the soccer field. As a teenager, I played professionally for Cape Town Spurs as a Colt (u19). Now, when I'm not presenting sportscasts, I'm still out there training with Santos Football Clubs Reserve Team and play the occasional friendly match.
"As a host of the UEFA Champions League, I bring passion, knowledge and great enthusiasm to the table. I hope to bring the excitement of Europe's most elite competition to life by discussing all aspects of the game with various esteemed guests in studio.
"This will entail in-depth analyses and discussions before the start of the match, at half-time and after the final whistle has been blown.
"To me soccer is a game of beauty, precision, skill and flair. I hope that my immense passion for the game gives an added dimension to the show."
