Stuart is the adopted “son” of the Little family in New York and while big brother, George (Jonathan Lipnicki) spends all his time with his friends, he is feeling a little left out.
So one day on his way home from school, Stuart meets a friend in need, a yellow canary bird named Margelo (Melanie Griffin). While his new found friend recuperates at his house, Stuart falls in love.
But there is trouble in the works as Margelo has a dark secret and in order to protect Stuart she flees. But he sets out to save her with the help of a fury friend.
