Die Hard

On Christmas Eve, NYPD detective John McClane flies from New York to Los Angeles to try to mend fences with his estranged wife, Holly, hoping to spend the holiday together.

Holly works at a skyscraper called Nakatomi Corporation, which is hosting a lavish Christmas party. But the celebrations are cut short when a group of heavily armed criminals, led by the ruthless mastermind Hans Gruber, stages a takeover, holding everyone inside hostage, their real aim: to steal millions in bearer bonds from the building’s vault.

Caught barefoot and unarmed, McClane narrowly escapes detection. What follows is a desperate, high-stakes cat-and-mouse showdown through the empty halls, ventilation shafts and locked floors of Nakatomi Plaza. With no official backup making headway, McClane becomes the building’s only hope, picking off the terrorists one by one, using his street smarts, guts and sheer brute will.

As midnight draws closer and danger mounts, McClane fights not just for the lives of the hostages, including Holly, but for a chance at redemption and reconciliation. In the final, tense showdown at the top of the building, he confronts Gruber and turns the Christmas party into a battlefield.
