About
End Game (2006) is a taut action thriller featuring Cuba Gooding Jr. as Secret Service agent Alex Thomas and Angie Harmon as determined reporter Kate Crawford. It begins when the President is shot during a speech, and Alex is hurt while trying to save him. The shooter is killed, but the President dies in the hospital. From that moment on, Alex’s life changed forever.
Kate Crawford, a reporter with a nose for truth, starts asking questions. Soon, those she questions begin to die under mysterious circumstances. She goes to Alex with warnings, and they become allies. When a bomb is found on Alex’s boat, he throws Kate into the water to save her and dives in after her. A deadly ambush unfolds underwater, setting the tone for what they must face together.
Alex and Kate trace the conspiracy through hidden evidence and suspicious deaths. They focus on a man named Jack Baldwin and eventually realise that Alex’s own boss, Vaughn Stevens, may be tied to the plot. Shocking film footage reveals Stevens handed a gun to the assassin before the President arrived. As Alex digs deeper, he finds Stevens dead, but the murder raises more questions. Baldwin attacks Kate, but Alex arrives just in time to save her. The final twist is that the First Lady ordered the assassination because of her husband’s affair.
Set in familiar political settings, the film builds quiet tension leading up to big reveals. Alex is torn between duty and personal loyalties.
