Final claimants to move in by 2025
Elderly land claimants in District Six in Cape Town say they’re in a race against time to see the reparations promised to them. Deputy President David Mabuza and a team of ministers, responsible for the historic land restitution project, met with claimants today.
Government has promised to move the remaining 954 residents back home by 2025. After being forcibly removed by the Apartheid state in 1966 and relocated to the outskirts of the city, land claimants say the day they finally return, can’t come soon enough.
