Time with Cats

Far away from the drama of the Oscars ceremony this week, a local film has been scooping awards around the globe. It’s called 'ixesha elichithwe neekati aliyo ncitha xesha' - Time with Cats is Never Wasted.

Filmed in isiXhosa and in black and white, it tells the story of Joe, a small-town abattoir worker and his battle with the world around him.

The film’s success has earned its lead actor Chris Hadebe, a local construction worker in the Northern Cape, a nomination for best leading actor at the Canadian film festival.

The film’s director, Clive Will, joined us to tell us more about the crew’s remarkable journey, from shooting in Victoria West to some of the world’s biggest independent film festivals.
