Cop who shot Ntumba still working

At least one person in South Africa is killed every 20 hours by police with 424 people killed last year.

This is according to stats released by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.

This is three times more per capita than the figures in the United States.

So do we have a problem with police brutality, and how effective is Ipid,

which continues to be underfunded and intertwined with the police service itself?

David Bruce, an independent researcher specialising in policing and public security, says the overall system is simply not working.
