Hajj will go ahead, but with conditions

The Hajj or Muslim pilgrimage, one of the largest mass gatherings in the world, will go ahead this year.

Saudi Arabian authorities made the announcement yesterday saying the pilgrimage will take place under stringent COVID-19 protocols. While details are unclear it’s believed that discussions are under way to decide whether international pilgrims will be allowed to part-take.

The second Deputy President of the Muslim Judicial Council, Sheikh Riyaad Fataar says it is excited about the news but at this stage information is limited on whether South Africans will be allowed to travel to Saudi Arabia.
