The hunt for diamonds continues in KZN

The atmosphere is buzzing in KwaHlathi village where officials from the KwaZulu-Natal government and mining experts have arrived to inspect a site where shiny stones have been found.

Crowds of people descended on the Ladysmith village since the weekend in the hopes of getting their hands on precious gems. Government officials spoke to the residents but there’s still no word yet on whether the stones which were found are in fact diamonds.

Geologist Gideon Groenewald says even if the stones turn out to be diamonds residents will not be allowed to hold on to them because it belongs to government.
