“Profiting from misery”

An investigation has lifted the lid on South Africa’s possible involvement, in gross human rights violations in Yemen.

Details are contained in a new report called "Profiting from Misery", put together by the NPO, Open Secrets.

It has reportedly found that state-owned arms manufacturer, Denel and others, sold weapons to Saudi Arabia

and the UAE, nations central to the conflict. The Open Secrets team of investigative journalists say,

that Denel’s declined to answer their calls for clarity. It’s been found two of these South African-built combat vehicles,

were allegedly used last year in a devastating attack on a Yemeni port city. For more on this story, we were joined by Michael Marchant.

He's a researcher at Open Secrets.
