‘Voting is more than a right, it’s a duty’

Many reasons have been advanced for the record low voter turnout during the local government election.

Apathy, lack of voter education and an uninteresting list of parties on the ballot are said to be among those reasons.

In Ga-Rankuwa a single mother says changing her vote will contribute to taking power away from politicians who’ve failed to keep their promises.

She believes her vote might just save the township she grew up in which is now a shadow of its former self.
