About
This March, we’re throwing scandalous at you, left, right & centre. And in a conservative dorp, what’s more scandalous than a secret pregnancy!
Yolanda has a secret- she might be pregnant. Living in a small “Coloured” community, everyone knows everyone’s business. Her family is religious and her dad, Pieter, is a deacon and aspiring pastor. We know this won’t end well.
Yolanda has big dreams to leave her conservative family and move to Cape Town to attend UCT and start a new life studying Oceanography.
But pregnancy is not something you can keep secret for long.
Ultimately her secret is revealed, and in the shame of the revelation her father feels forced to send her off to live with her aged grandparents in a rural Karoo town. The plan is for her to secretly have the baby and then return home to finish schooling.
But in the Karoo she meets Charl, an ostracised teen who moved to the town after a tragic incident that killed his father- an incident he was blamed for. The two outsiders forge a friendship and fall in love, while learning to live and to forgive themselves for the mistakes of the past.
In the end, love wins and Yolanda gets to make her own rules.
