Almost R7m in Lottery funds used on award ceremony

Nearly R7-million from the National Lotteries Commission, was used to stage the Mbokodo awards.

The annual awards ceremony is produced by prominent business woman, Carol Bouwer’s production house.

Reports indicate that the money for the lavish event was paid to a non-profit organisation, Venalor,

and then later channeled to Bouwer’s production company, which shares directors and premises with Venalor.

We reached out to Carol Bouwer for comment but she refused our invitation to talk.
