Edgemead school tragedy

In 2017, 12-year-old Kyle Grace climbed a staircase at his school, Edgemead Primary into the space above the school hall.

The ceiling gave way and Kyle was killed when he fell 8-metres to the ground.

Now his parents are heading to the High Court to sue both the school and the Western Cape Education Department.

This after a court inquest found this week that no one could be held responsible for his death.

The judge found that the tragedy happened after school hours and that aftercare could not be expected to guard all the children all the time.

There was no responsibility from the school’s side.

Specialist personal injury attorney, Henry Shields, is now suing school authorities, on behalf of Kyle’s parents, Michael and Michelle Grace.
