Former Rhodes student fights banning order

Student activist Yolanda Dyantyi, is fighting to clear her name. She was banned from Rhodes University in 2017, after taking part in anti-rape protests on campus. Now she’s taken her fight to the Grahamstown High Court. Yolanda is one of two students who were charged with assault, kidnapping and defamation two years ago. It's alleged that together with a massive group of students, they dragged alleged rape perpetrators from their rooms, and publicly accused them of being rapists. Dyantyi also faced a disciplinary hearing at the university. But she says she wasn’t given an opportunity to defend herself. She's received lots of support on social media. Gorata Chengeta is a gender activist who reported on the protests. e.tv news and sport anchor, Naledi Moleo interviewed her.
