Health minister gives COVID-19 update

We are now in a second wave.

That’s the word from Health Minister Zweli Mkhize who gave an update on South Africa's response to the COVID-19 resurgence on Wednesday.

The minister's announcement comes as the country reported over 6 000 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

Mkhize says four provinces are the main drivers behind the latest surge.

He added that we have a responsibility to enjoy the festive season with restraint.
