Jackson Mthembu dies

Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu has died from COVID -19 related complications.

President Cyril Ramaphosa made the announcement in a statement on Thursday afternoon.

The president described Mthembu as an exemplary leader, activist and life-long champion of freedom and democracy.

Mthembu tested positive for COVID-19, exactly 10 days ago.
