KZN landfill battle plays out in court

Residents living near the New England Road Landfill Site in Pietermaritzburg say they’ve been exposed to toxic fumes for years.

There's also been several massive fires at the site, including one which led to the closure of N3 Highway last year.

Today the SA Human Rights Commission dragged the Msunduzi Municipality to court to hold them responsible for the violation of environmental laws.
