Putting a minimum unit price on alcohol

Researchers from UCT have published their findings following a probe into whether putting a minimum unit price on alcohol could help reduce the prevalence of alcohol abuse.

The country continues to be plagued by substance abuse and the researchers who conducted the study say a minimum unit price on booze could work.

To discuss how they went about doing their research, we spoke to Corne van Walbeek the director of the Research Unit on the Economics of Excisable Products at UCT.
