SA brothers vanish amid cryptocurrency scam

In what could be the biggest cryptocurrency scam ever a pair of South African brothers have disappeared along with R51-billion in Bitcoin.

The pair ran a cryptocurrency investment platform Africrypt which promised massive returns for investors.

But when Bitcoin hit record highs in April and the company claimed it had been hacked some investors hired a law firm to take a closer look.

Darren Hanekom, from Hanekom Attorneys is one of the lawyers representing investors and says the Hawks is current investigating the matter.
