SANDF updates its dress code on hijab

The South African National Defence Force has finally agreed to amend its uniform policy to allow Muslim women, to wear their hijab as part of their

uniform. It’s a major victory for Major Fatima Isaacs, who has waged a three-year battle to be allowed to wear her

headscarf under her military beret. During this long and lonely battle she reached out to Nazeema Mohamed,

a labour consultant who agreed to help her fight the charges.

Mohamed spoke to us on Friday and says she believes this is a victory against discrimination.
