Tremors: Should Cape Town be worried?

Earlier this week, Cape Town residents felt the earth move after a 3.4 magnitude tremor struck the coast, some 47 kilometers from Saldanha Bay.

In September, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck off-shore, sending shock waves through the Mother City.

An expert says these recent seismic events in the city, could be a sign of rising tectonic stresses,

which could cause major damage to the city’s infrastructure and property.

Naledi Moleo spoke to Professor Andrzej Kijko, the Director at the University of Pretoria’s Natural Hazard Centre.
