Is'phindiselo premieres on e.tv this June

A gripping tale of betrayal, vengeance and the pursuit of justice arrives on screens this June as Is'phindiselo, the first original drama series produced exclusively for eVOD, makes its highly anticipated debut on Wednesday, 18 June.

Inspired by Alexandre Dumas' timeless classic The Count of Monte Cristo, Is'phindiselo reimagines the iconic story within a distinctly South African setting. Set against the backdrop of Johannesburg and a corrupt construction empire, the series explores powerful themes of hope, justice, revenge, mercy and forgiveness.

At the heart of the story is Benny Ngwenya (Zamani Mbatha), a young man with a promising future, a loving family and dreams within his reach. But when he becomes entangled in a web of corruption and deceit, his life is shattered by a crime he did not commit. Wrongfully imprisoned, Benny embarks on an extraordinary journey that will transform him from victim to avenger.

Trained by a ruthless mentor, Benny escapes captivity, discovers a hidden fortune and returns determined to settle the score with those who destroyed his life. Yet as his quest for revenge unfolds, the consequences reach far beyond his intended targets, leaving a trail of heartbreak, shattered relationships and unforeseen tragedy.

Spanning from the streets of Pimville to the jungles of the Congo, Is'phindiselo is a sweeping drama filled with romance, loyalty, betrayal and ambition. As long-buried secrets come to light, viewers will witness how the choices of a few can change the lives of many.

The stellar cast includes Zamani Mbatha as Benny Ngwenya, Amahle Khumalo as Phumzile, Baby Cele as Thabile, Lindani Nkosi as Vusimuzi, Mamarumo Marokane as Letti, Robert Mpisi as Temane, Siyabonga Sepotokele as Chris, Warren Masemola as Jerry and Zikhona Bali as Khethiwe.

Created and executive produced by Meren Reddy, Luke Rous and Joshua Rous of Rous House Productions, alongside Nomusa Nkabinde for eVOD, Is'phindiselo marks a major milestone in local storytelling as the first eOriginal drama produced exclusively for the platform.

The series is led by head writers Meren Reddy and Sean Steinberg, supported by a writing team that includes Daniel Zimbler and Joshua Rous, who also serves as director. The original score is composed by Paul Vermaak.

In the explosive series premiere, Benny Ngwenya's bright future is ripped away when he is unwittingly caught in a dangerous world of high-stakes corruption, setting in motion a story of revenge that will captivate audiences from the very first episode.

Will revenge bring Benny the justice he seeks, or will it ultimately cost him everything?

Find out when Is'phindiselo premieres on Wednesday, 18 June.
