Scandal! turns up the heat with Camilla Waldman, Jo-Anne Reyneke, and Sonia Mbele joining the cast

Johannesburg, 22 October 2025 – A power shift hits the SAFTA-winning daily drama Scandal! as a powerhouse trio of South African screen icons joins the cast. Camilla Waldman, Jo-Anne Reyneke, and Sonia Mbele step into the world of Scandal! as part of the show’s exciting new chapter of storytelling.

The arrival of these celebrated actresses signals a bold leap into fresh storylines, complex characters, and a renewed energy that promises to keep viewers glued to their screens.

Jo-Anne Reyneke takes on the role of Buyi Mlotshwa, also known as “Keyes”, a formidable talent scout and media maven who is renowned for transforming unknowns into stars through her agency, Bheka Mina Media. Glamorous, ambitious, and fiercely strategic, Buyi knows how to mix business with pleasure and she’s equally admired and feared in the high-stakes world of fame and fortune.

Sonia Mbele transforms into Mamsie, a poetic whirlwind whose dazzling charm masks a master manipulator. Dressed in faded luxury and dripping with 90s glamour, Mamsie captivates with metaphors, misdirection, and a flair for drama. Beneath her vintage allure lies a woman who always leaves with more than she came for - trouble wrapped in mystery.

Camilla Waldman brings her gravitas to Nina Bishop, a top-tier defence attorney whose calm, cutting precision dominates the courtroom. Known for her ruthless tactics and unflinching determination, Nina uses the law as her weapon, fearless in her pursuit of victory, no matter the cost.

“We are stepping into an exciting new storyline for Scandal!,” says Grace Mahlaba, Head Writer and Creative Producer of Scandal!.Bringing in Camilla, Jo-Anne, and Sonia allows us to tell stories that are richer, more layered, and reflective of the complex world our viewers live in. Each of these women embodies strength and vulnerability in different ways, and audiences are going to be blown away by what’s coming.”

Their arrival is not just about new faces—it’s about expanding the emotional and dramatic universe of Scandal!,” Mahlaba adds. “We’re exploring ambition, reinvention, and power, three words that perfectly describe these actresses and the characters they’ll bring to life.”

This latest development reinforces Scandal!’s reputation as one of South Africa’s most dynamic and boundary-pushing daily dramas, continuing to evolve while keeping its pulse firmly on contemporary storytelling.

Scandal! airing weekdays at 7.30 PM, only on e.tv.
