Takalani Sesame

e.tv Brings Takalani Sesame to life in isiZulu, with a focus on language development and inclusivity.

Johannesburg, South Africa – 24th June 2024 – e.tv is thrilled to announce the premiere of season 11 of Takalani Sesame, South Africa's beloved children's program, entirely in isiZulu! Debuting on Monday, July 1st, this new season marks a significant step towards fostering language development and inclusivity for young viewers.

We understand the profound impact language has on a child's development, says Samatolo Sihlezana who takes care of the kids’ content for the channel. By presenting Takalani Sesame in isiZulu, we aim to support children’s ability to communicate effectively, express their emotions, and develop critical thinking skills. This aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing high-quality educational programming for South African children.

Deputy Managing Director and Senior Director Education and Outreach Mari Payne says the organization is committed to helping kids grow Smarter, Stronger and Kinder. “This dynamic partnership allows Takalani Sesame to reach kids across South Africa and enjoy entertaining and educational programming in their home languages.” 

This season also introduces exciting new elements, incorporating sign language into the program.  We are incredibly proud to partner with Sesame Workshop to not only entertain but also educate young viewers about the importance of different languages and the beauty of sign language.
