Robberies and massive heists set the scene of this crime drama as Joshua gets embroiled in the criminal underworld of his cousins Pope and Baz, run by Smurf - a formidable and manipulative criminal matriarch from the California coast.

After J’s mother Julia died of an overdose, we come to see how J came to live with his crime-lord grandma Smurf, and as a teenager, plunges into danger when he moves in with his wild relatives in a surf community.

Early in the series, a heist is planned, and Joshua discovers the intense nature of his estranged grandmother. Meanwhile, Detective Sandra Yates is watching him closely, believing he could be the one to bring Smurf and the family down for good.
