HOUSEWIVES is drama series that follow three women whose lives are turned upside down when their husbands are killed by a drug queenpin.
Akhona, Summer, and Lawrancia, who live sheltered lives in suburban and township Johannesburg, are friends and their husbands are friends. These women live what some may call comfortable lives; they have no agency and need to work, as their husbands are the breadwinners in their respective homes. They even take care of their problems.
Their lives are spun on its head and face a big threat of going from riches to rags when tragedy strikes. They learn that their husbands were notorious drug traffickers who crossed drug queenpin and their big boss, Dragon by stealing drugs worth millions from her and get killed by the cartel leader. Their spouses Akhona, Summer, and Lawranciaare are left with the debt of paying back the drug queen for the consignment stolen.
The women are forced to join forces to help pay off the debt to a drug queen by working for her and pushing her drugs in a way that will not draw any attention to themselves, and the drug queen who is already under heavy police surveillance.
As they work, bringing in the drugs and the money, Akhona realises that they could become their own bosses and masters of the trade if they ran their own syndicate. She tries to recruit the women to work with her but they are scared. Akhona goes in it alone and makes a success of it, becoming one of the best drug traffickers, she is so good that she starts to make a comfortable living, at the same time pissing off Dragon who now sees her as a threat and an enemy, who has stolen some of Dragon’s best clients.
The battle lines are drawn as to who will be the smartest and most dangerous drug queen to rule the underworld, but what Akhona never anticipated is that going against Dragon, who uses fire to eliminate her competitors, is a fight she will have to fight to the death if she wants to win.
