Tjoppie’s world is shaken when he follows Veronique after overhearing a suspicious phone call — and witnesses her in a passionate moment with Gershwin. Shocked, he doesn’t confront her or Clayton, but begins his own quiet investigation, nearly getting caught snooping through Veronique’s room.

Meanwhile, Gcobani makes a bold move by putting in an offer on the house, unaware of the emotional landmines hidden behind its walls.

Tjoppie’s visit to Hermien in prison reveals more than either of them anticipated. When he vaguely mentions discovering something bad about Veronique, Hermien fears he knows the truth about his paternity — and almost confesses — until it becomes clear he’s talking about the affair. Edmund also visits Hermien, uncertain about Nkuli’s offer and still struggling with his feelings for Shireen. Hermien encourages him to seek closure.

By the end of the week, Edmund makes a life-altering choice. He’s leaving Soebatskloof, entrusting the farm to Hermien despite her protests. Though reluctant, she promises to keep it running — until he returns.
