Kelders Van Geheime: A Year Of Shocks, Success and Unforgettable Storytelling

2025 has been nothing short of exceptional for Kelders van Geheime. From emotional highs and devastating lows on Soebatskloof to incredible behind-the-scenes achievements, this year has cemented the show as one of South Africa’s most gripping and unmissable television dramas. 

On-screen, our characters were pushed to their limits. Debbie-Lee and Tjoppie faced challenges that put their relationship to the ultimate test, while Brenda continued to prove what true loyalty looks like – quietly becoming the emotional anchor of Soebatskloof and someone that CJ can rely on. Veronique’s relentless ambition sparked conflict, power plays and surprising vulnerabilities when we eventually saw Hermien exposing her and banning her from Soebatskloof. Shireen’s love entanglement with Warren had fans divided and debating online. Marco, the dramatic spirit, delivered humour, chaos and heart – with the Christiaan storyline being a highlight on Kelders this year, fans were glued to their screens! 

But the success did not stop on screen. The show experienced significant growth in audience numbers, driven by the introduction of dynamic new characters and the story's expansion into the township of Bergvallei – bringing important themes of community, legacy and identity to the forefront. Kelders also made an impact beyond broadcast: from powerful Mandela Day initiatives to live festival activations and record-breaking engagement across the Openview digital platforms. 

The launch of the Skemertyd prime-time block helped position Kelders van Geheime as a key driver of viewership, showcasing the power of Afrikaans storytelling within a broader format. The addition of celebrated actress Ilse Klink as Joyce brought depth and new energy to the narrative, while rising talent continued to leave their mark.
