Remembering the lives we lost, in a time we'd rather forget.

Remembering the lives we lost, in a time we'd rather forget.

We're all so caught up in the new lockdown regulations and the freedom each level brings. We've forgotten about those that have lost their lives due to the COVID-19 and Gender-Based-Violence pandemics.

From today, until 29 November, eMedia Investments remembers the lives of every individual who has succumbed to the pandemics by going BLACK.

On Wednesday 11 November 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation asking South African Citizens to unite in solidarity during this year's 16 Days Of Activism.

"It will be appropriate that during the #16DaysofActivism for No Violence against Women and Children – which is the second pandemic we are confronting – we demonstrate remembrance of all those who have departed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Gender-Based-Violence," Ramaphosa said.

"Cabinet has decided that from the 25 to 29 November, the nation will embark on five days of mourning for the victims of COVID-19," concluded the President.

All e.tv, Openview, and eNCA social media sites will bear blacked out logos as a symbol to honour the memory of those who have passed.

To honour the life of someone you know who lost their battle against COVID-19 or succumbed to Gender-Based Violence, South Africans are encouraged to visit https://www.etv.co.za/remember to upload an image of their loved one who has passed on. The pictures shared will be included in a commemoration at the end of the mourning period.

We will remember the 20 000 plus lives we lost to COVID-19 and all the women and children that have suffered at the hands of their abusers.
