Snake | Now Streaming
showA chilling tale of deception and courage unfolds in Snake, now streaming on eVOD.
Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Cape Winelands, Snake weaves a gripping narrative centered around ten-year-old Stella and her family, who live as impoverished squatters on a farm. Their lives take a turn with the arrival of a charismatic stranger named Jerry.
At first, Jerry seems to be a positive influence. Stella is relieved to see her father stay sober and her mother rediscover her laughter. However, Stella's hope soon turns to suspicion when she begins to believe that Jerry may have murdered a policeman.
Jerry manipulates Stella, coercing her into lying on his behalf. As a twisted reward for her silence, he gifts her a beautiful silver flute. But Stella's lie becomes the key to unlocking Jerry's tragic past. He burdens her with his boyhood trauma, a trauma that Stella slowly realizes is deeply intertwined with her own family's history.
As Jerry's sinister intentions become clearer, he begins to unravel the family from within. He seduces Stella's mother, pushing her father back to drinking, and cunningly sabotages their dreams of buying land and building a stable future.
When Stella, overwhelmed by the truth, attempts to expose Jerry's evil deeds, he silences her with a chilling threat: the life of her baby sister.
Faced with this terrible ultimatum, Stella must make a life-altering choice. She ultimately defies Jerry's command, setting in motion a chain of events that erupt into deadly violence.
Stella is left with no option but to fight for her family and her own survival. In a heart-stopping climax, Stella's unwavering truth confronts Jerry's web of lies, leading to a confrontation where only one can prevail.
Snake is a powerful story about the resilience of the human spirit, the destructive nature of deceit, and the courage it takes to stand up for what is right.
