In 2017, parents and pupils,
from Pinelands High School in Cape Town,
approached the school management,
about the school's crest.
They raised concerns about some problematic symbols
in the crest, linked to South Africa's colonial past.
The school has spent the past three years engaging with the school community to create the new school crest.
Why the crest? And what are they hoping the change will bring?
We chat to the school’s principal, Dave Campbell,
for more on this.
