Residents desperate to root out drugs, crime

This week we’ve reflected the desperate pleas of community members
in Johannesburg’s southern suburbs. They’ve been asking politicians
to help root out drug abuse and crime in their areas.
Yesterday while our reporter Rianté Padayachee was covering a story in Riverlea
a suspected drug-related murder took place.
She returned to the area today to speak to the family and local councillors.

Residents demand Eskom restore their power

A heavy police presence in Diepkloof forced residents to abandon their protest action on Thursday while they remain off the grid. The residents have been protesting Eskom’s decision to disconnect their power supply due to non-payment. They have been without power for two weeks now. Our reporter Henny Ngoveni spoke to one family in the area and filed this report.
