SA firefighters arrive in Canada article Just over 100 South African firefighters are currently in Canada to help bring wildfires there under control. Record breaking heat waves have led to several fires in Manitoba and across western Canada. The firefighters will spend just over a month in the country. The trip forms part of an agreement between South Africa and Canada. This is the fourth deployment of our firefighters to the North American country. The last group was sent to Canada in June 2019. Working on Fire's national spokesperson, Linton Rensburg says they expect the firefighters to be on job by this weekend.

The smoke hanging over large parts of the City has also cleared and firefighters are concentrating on damping down possible flare-ups.
