With the world focused on preventing COVID-19 infections many of us have forgotten about the flu virus. Medical experts warn that we should not disregard the dangers of influenza. More than half a million people die of the flu every year. In South Africa, specifically, we see almost 50 000 cases and 12 000 deaths annually as a result of the flu.
Dr Jo Barnes from Stellenbosch University's Faculty of Medicine has urged people to get their flu jabs.
