DA election poster backfires

Inflammatory, insensitive and ill-timed. That’s how one diversity expert has described the Democratic Alliance’s divisive election poster in Phoenix. The posters which read: ‘The ANC calls you racists, the DA calls you heroes’ has raised the ire of the public. It's even got some of the party’s own members hot under the collar.
But the DA has defended its stance saying Phoenix residents had the right to defend their properties during the July unrest.
Diversi-T Managing Director Terry Oakley Smith says this is a setback for reconciliation efforts in the Phoenix community.

Current interim leader and former Parliamentary Chief Whip, John Steenhuisen, is facing off against senior KwaZulu-Natal DA member, Mbali Ntuli.

Residents of Eldorado Park, are accusing police officers, of shooting and killing an autistic boy on Wednesday evening.

Eldorado Park police station was damaged in the unrest, while two police officers and one JMPD officer were injured.

Alcohol is now allowed to be sold from Monday to Friday between 10am and 6pm. But the Liquor Traders Association's Lucky Ntimane is concerned that the industry is still not allowed to trade on weekends.
