A turbulent weekend in South African cricket has seemingly hit calmer waters.
Cricket South Africa’s Members’ Council and interim board have reached a historic agreement. Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa announced on Friday that he will be stripping CSA of funding and recognition as SA cricket's governing body. The move came after months of resistance from CSA’s Members Council
to accept a Memorandum of Incorporation by the interim board which would ensure a new permanent board of majority independent directors.
Today, CSA announced that all parties involved met today and finally settled on an amended MOI. On Monday we caught up with Cricket writer Telford Vice, who explained some of the big changes.

CSA, Sascoc & Minister’s Mexican stand-off continues

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee’s recent calls for Parliament to investigate Sport Minister Nathi Mthethwa has everyone holding their breath to see what happens next. Sascoc has called for the investigation after what it believes was an overreach of power by Mthethwa when he forced an amended Memorandum of Incorporation on Cricket SA. The governing body for sport in the country has however rejected the MOI which would see a majority independent board appointed at CSA. For more on the calls for an investigation we had a chat with Sascoc President Barry Hendricks.

Crocs on the run

A large number of crocodiles have escaped from a commercial breeding farm in Bonnievale, a small town outside Cape Town.

It’s unclear how many are on the loose but so far 20 have been recaptured.

Search operations are continuing for the crocodiles which are between 1.2 and 1.5 metres long.
