Residents living on KwaZulu-Natal's South Coast have had enough of the Ugu Municipality denying them access to water.

Residents say they have not had water since January this year.

Today, they took to the streets and blocked the N2 highway near the municipality and vowed to intensify their actions if their demands are not met.

The community of Ugie is still reeling after two women were killed in the town over the weekend. One woman was allegedly killed by her boyfriend during a fight on Friday night while another was stabbed to death a day later at her boyfriend’s house.

Uber Eats was initially a very lucrative business for its delivery drivers,
and they were making up to R4000 to R5000 a week.

Duane Bernard, who represents the Uber Driver Partners Association,
says drivers are now struggling to make ends meet after Uber Eats dropped its rates.

The drivers will embark on a nationwide strike on Friday to protest against the delivery fee cuts.
