Students from the University of South Africa will continue to protest until the university reverses a decision,
to reduce its first year intake of students by 20 000.

The high court in Pretoria sided with the students last week and set aside Unisa's decision.

The university's policy seeks to phase out Afrikaans as a medium for teaching and learning.
The court dealt with the roots of the language and emphasised that it’s a misconception
that Afrikaans is the language of whites and that it is spoken mainly by black people.
Cultural expert Pitika Ntuli offered his view on this and the language usage at tertiary level.

A 71-year-old orthopaedic surgeon at Rondebosch Medical Centre has been evading paying tax for the better part of eight years. Instead of prison or paying a massive fine the National Prosecuting Authority opted for a diversion programme, which saw the doc giving back to society. Our reporter, Natalie Malgas joined us earlier to explain exactly what Dr. Nisaar Moosa's punishment was.

Doctors know a little something about giving back. But, it’s rare that they're instructed to do so. One Cape Town surgeon has been ordered to perform pro bono service after he was busted for dodging the taxman. Doctor Nisaar Moosa, an orthopedic surgeon in Rondebosch and his company faced eight counts for tax fraud for not submitting returns between 2009 and 2017. Our reporter Natalie Malgas has the story.

It's all systems go for Cosatu's national strike on Wednesday. The country's largest trade union federation has called on all public servants to stay away from work.
